Krüger Motor Oil is pleased to announce that it has received official Mercedes-Benz approval to specification MB 229.5 for the motor oil Krüger® Engine Oil 5W-40 SP.
What MB 229.5 is
MB 229.5 is the Mercedes-Benz specification for fully synthetic fuel-economy oils intended for modern petrol engines and certain diesel units without a particulate filter. It is one of the most demanding specifications in the industry: a product must pass multi-stage bench testing and real-world service trials.
The requirements
- Wear protection above the level of ACEA A3/B4
- Stability under extreme loads
- Compatibility with exhaust after-treatment systems
- Extended drain intervals (up to 30,000 km under Mercedes Service B conditions)
What this means for Mercedes-Benz owners
Krüger® Engine Oil 5W-40 SP is now officially recommended for most Mercedes-Benz models with petrol engines, including the C-Class, E-Class, S-Class, GLC, GLE and the AMG range.
Next steps
By the end of Q1 2026 we also plan to obtain BMW Longlife-04 and Porsche A40 approvals. Expanding the portfolio of OEM approvals is a strategic priority for the brand.
