Which oil should I choose for my vehicle?

Open your service booklet or owner's manual — it states the recommended viscosity (for example 5W-30) and the manufacturer's approval (for example VW 504 00). With that information, use the catalogue filters to select your Krüger oil. If you are unsure, write to us via the contact form and our engineers will help you choose, free of charge.

What is the difference between synthetic, semi-synthetic and mineral oil?

Accepted Answer

Mineral oil is a direct refining product of crude oil: inexpensive, but it ages quickly and has a narrow operating range. Semi-synthetic oil is a blend of mineral and synthetic oil, a compromise between price and performance. Synthetic oil is produced by chemical synthesis or deep hydrotreating (PAO, esters, GTL) and delivers better protection, fuel economy, extended drain intervals and stability at extreme temperatures. For modern turbocharged and direct-injection engines, a synthetic oil is a mandatory requirement.

What do the designations 5W-30, 0W-20, SAE and API mean?

SAE is the viscosity classification. The figure before the W (winter) describes cold properties (0W = down to −35°C, 5W = down to −30°C). The figure after the W is the viscosity at +100°C (30 = thinner, 40 = thicker). API (American Petroleum Institute) and ACEA (the European Automobile Manufacturers' Association) are quality categories based on performance characteristics. The later the API letter (SP > SN > SM > SL), the more modern the standard.

How often should motor oil be changed?

The standard interval is 10,000–15,000 km or once a year. Under severe conditions (city traffic, taxi duty, towing a trailer, extreme temperatures) it is every 5,000–7,500 km. For each Krüger product we state the recommended interval in the PDS. Do not exceed the interval even with a high-quality oil — additives have a finite service life.

Can oils from different manufacturers be mixed?

Accepted Answer

In an emergency (topping up to the correct level) it is acceptable to mix oils of the same viscosity and API/ACEA category. Mixing on a permanent basis is not advisable: different additive packages can conflict with one another and reduce the effectiveness of protection. If you are switching to Krüger, a complete oil change with a system flush is recommended.

Our portfolio includes approvals from Mercedes-Benz (MB 229.5, 229.51, 229.52), BMW (Longlife-01, -04, -12FE, -14), Volkswagen (502 00, 505 00, 504 00 / 507 00), Porsche (A40, C30, C40), Renault (RN0700, RN0710, RN0720), Ford (WSS-M2C913-D, WSS-M2C961-A1), GM (dexos1 Gen 2, dexos2) and others. Where are Krüger products manufactured?

All products are manufactured at our plants in Germany (Stuttgart, Hamburg). Production is certified to ISO 9001 (quality), ISO 14001 (environment) and ISO 45001 (occupational health and safety). Every batch undergoes laboratory testing before it is shipped to the customer.

Does Krüger comply with GOST?

Yes, we have a separate product line developed to meet GOST requirements for the CIS market — the GOST Oils category. They are manufactured in Germany to German quality standards while complying with GOST specifications and Russian industry requirements.

Does Krüger hold environmental certifications?

Accepted Answer

Yes, our production is certified to ISO 14001. Our range of biodegradable hydraulic and industrial oils complies with the EU Ecolabel. We also run a used-oil recycling programme together with partners in the countries where we operate.

The standard dealer programme includes wholesale pricing, territorial exclusivity, marketing support (POS materials, training, advertising campaigns) and predictable delivery times. Terms depend on purchase volumes and region. Details follow an initial consultation.

How can I verify that a canister is genuine?

Accepted Answer

Every Krüger canister carries a unique QR code beneath the label and a holographic sticker. Scan the QR code at verify.kruger-oil.de — the system will show the production date and batch number and confirm authenticity. If anything does not match, let us know and we will look into it.

Question 16

What should I do if a product is defective?

Accepted Answer

If you suspect you have received a substandard product, contact our support team and attach a photo of the canister, a photo of the label showing the batch number, and your proof of purchase. We will analyse a sample in the laboratory and, if the defect is confirmed, compensate you for the product plus any losses.

Where should used oil be taken?

Accepted Answer

In the EU, to authorised collection points (available at most service garages). In the CIS, our distribution partners run a used-oil collection programme in major cities. Pouring oil onto the ground or into the drains causes serious environmental damage and is a criminal offence in most countries.

Does Krüger have a laboratory for used oil analysis?

Accepted Answer

Yes, we offer used motor and industrial oil analysis for corporate customers. The results allow you to forecast the condition of an engine or a machine, identify internal faults and optimise drain intervals. You can request the service via the contact form.
