Krüger CVTF is a synthetic transmission fluid for continuously variable transmissions. A CVT is built on a fundamentally different principle from a conventional automatic. There are no clutch packs and no gear steps: torque is carried by a steel push-belt or chain clamped between two pairs of conical pulleys. The ratio changes as the pulleys move together and apart, sliding the belt along their cones. That inverts the requirement on the fluid. Ordinary transmission oil reduces friction, whereas a CVTF has to sustain a high metal-to-metal friction coefficient. Otherwise the belt slips under load and scores the pulleys within a handful of kilometres. At the same time the fluid must protect those very surfaces against wear and transmit clamping pressure to the valve body without loss. Krüger CVTF handles both. The additive package holds a stable friction profile across the whole service life, not just on fresh fluid. Foam resistance is critical: air in the circuit means a drop in pulley clamping pressure and instant belt slip. Viscosity holds at cold start and under overheating in traffic or on a long climb. Important: automatic transmission fluid must never be used in a CVT. ATF is formulated to reduce friction, which in a CVT causes belt slip and destroys the pulleys.

- Manufacturer schedule As specified by the vehicle manufacturer. A CVT is more sensitive to fluid condition than a conventional automatic: shorten the interval relative to the rated figure when towing, driving in mountains or operating constantly in city traffic.
